With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, wouldn’t it be nice to have your own little love potion to melt that special someone’s heart? Well, sometimes the fastest way to someone’s heart is through his or her… nose? That’s right, scents have a direct line to our heartstrings. Scents can make us happy, relax us, even put us in the mood for romance. Check out this list of essential oils that folk have been using for centuries and, seeing as the human race hasn’t gone extinct yet, they just might work!
Love Is In The Air! Essential Oil Aphrodesiacs!
My new staple
Hey y’all. Let’s just take a moment to talk, shall we? Here at Nature’s Corner we’ve got a lot of amazing products, but you already know that. There’s one in particular I’d like to tell you about though and that’s Oasis Lentil dip. It’s made of lentils, brown rice and only a few other ingredients and, frankly, it’s fantastic. Just be warned, one bite and you’ll be hooked. And so will everyone else in your house. I have to buy an extra one as a decoy!
Organic Giants Cave to Monsanto
In a surprising turn of events last month, the major chains Whole Foods Market, Organic Valley and Stonyfield Farm have bowed to pressure from Monsanto, tacitly giving the USDA the green light on “conditional deregulation” of genentically engineered, pesticide resistant alfalfa. Continue reading
Hello, February! How Are Those New Year’s Resolutions Coming?
Okay everyone. Let’s be realistic. We’re a little over a month in to 2012. We made it through the Superbowl and we’ve got Valentine’s Day staring us down. How are those resolutions coming? Yeah. I thought so. Wouldn’t it be nice to feel lighter, cleaner, more energetic? Couldn’t you use a little more pep in your step and a little less of that urge to hibernate? Maybe it’s time you considered ReNew Life Organic Cleanse. Continue reading
Something Worth Sharing
This little guy is incredible. I especially love the line about how we can pay the farmers or we can pay the hospitals. If you read yesterday’s post about Paula Deen admitting she’s got diabetes and then turning around and selling a $500 a month diabetes medication, this video should ring out as a breath of fresh air. It’s not all a problem, my friends, there’s hope out there. Sometimes in unlikely, and even small, packages.
For All You Raw Folk Out There
Going Raw is a growing movement. Sure, maybe I’m encouraging the stereotype that people with alternative diets only eat salad but what if it’s just a really good salad? Like this one! If you’ve ever wondered what raw tastes like or whether or not it’s a practical way of eating, give this one a try. Continue reading

What’s That Delicious Smell?
Back in the Nature’s Corner kitchen there’s always something going on. Here I caught Gerri, our resident food magician, Lauren, our illustrious produce manager and a very hungry Jude sampling Gerri’s latest creation:Roasted Sunchokes and Sweet Potatoes. This is one hot, hearty dish that really shows off one of Lauren’s best finds Local Sunchokes. These tasty tubers have a distinctive artichoke flavor but actually come from that most familiar of plants, the sunflower. Between these guys and the local fingerling sweet potatoes this dish isn’t just a delight to the palate but is also packed with nutrients-vitamins, minerals, fiber, everything you need for a very happy belly. Want to make this dish at home? It’s incredibly easy, I should know, I stole the recipe for you! Continue reading
Chicken Soup for the (Veggie) Soul
Vegetarians need not feel left out. The recipe below maintains the golden hue and soothing warmth of regular chicken soup, but instead of oily schmaltz it gets its depth of flavor from long-simmered garlic and vegetables. The addition of lemongrass provides a hint of bright citrus fragrance, which adds a welcome complexity to the broth. Continue reading
TOMORROW! Farmers vs. Monsanto!
New York, New Yo
rk – January, 16 2012 - We wish to assemble free and peaceful citizens outside the Manhattan District court in an effort to present the important message to family farmers that millions of Americans stand behind them as they seek their day in court. Continue reading
GMOs, Monsato and… The Government???
Here’s yet another tip-off from our ever on top of things produce manager, did you know that Michael R. Taylor, the former Vice President for Public Policy at Monsanto is now an advisor to FDA Commissioner Margaret A. Hamburg on food safety? “Wait”, you say, “the same Michael R. Taylor who was once a lawyer/lobbyist for Monsanto and responsible in a large part for helping to pass GMOs into our food supply without testing or labeling?” Yes, the same. Continue reading
February is Potato Lover’s Month!
For everyone who felt left out when we posted the rutabaga recipe, here’s some creamy starchy goodness of the vegan variety.
