Getting Our Gardens Ready Together
April is just around the corner, meaning that you can finally wake the garden up and get it ready to grow. Cooler weather crops such as peas, potatoes and onions are ready to go in the ground now, especially in warmer climates, and by the end of the month in cooler climates. The same goes for transplanting hardy parsley seedlings or established plants that have overwintered, as well as any established lettuce and spinach. Cool weather plants can actually wilt or bolt in very hot weather, so planting them early on allows you to enjoy bountiful early summer harvests. So, are you ready to get your hands dirty? We have all of your seed needs here, and will soon have plants ready to put right into your garden from Local, Organic Farmers. Stop by soon to check it out!

Product Spotlight: Early Bird Granola from Brooklyn NY
I know personally, this granola is my favorite. My staff pick even. The salty and sweetness is a perfect combo with luscious, creamy, unsweetened greek yogurt. I can’t rave enough about it! When supermarket granola just didn’t have that savory, well-seasoned crunch, Nekisia Davis, artisan granola maker & founder of Early Bird Granola in Brooklyn, New York, decided to make her own. According to Nekisia, once she gets a food idea in her head she becomes obsessed, testing recipes for months until they are mastered, which is exactly what happened over a year ago when her friend urged her to make homemade granola. The task turned into an obsession – an obsession which led to a new, more wholesome recipe for granola, a recipe so good she decided to turn it into a business. And in Spring 2009, Nekisia began selling her granola at small artisan markets across NYC, promoting her philosophy about eating good, whole foods.
Every bag of Early Bird Granola is handmade, hand-mixed and hand-packed with “salt, olive oil and love…it’s all about the love.” It doesn’t get any better than that!
